Dad, Where Were You?
When I fell down, and hurt myself Dad, where were you?
When my dog died, and I cried and cried, Dad, where were you?
When I earned my boy scout pin And stood with such a grin,
Yet feeling pain within, I wondered, Dad, where were you?
They say you are my father And I believe them so,
But where were you when I needed you? If you're my father I must know,
When I made an "A" in math Where were you?
When that giant snake crossed my path Where were you?
When I fell in love the very first time When all the world seemed sublime
The poem just didn't rhyme Because I wondered where were you?
Daddy, if you'd just been there You needn't have said a thing,
For I would have known I had your support Your smile would have said everything.
Now I have found a heavenly father He's always there so true
To give me all the love I need I never say, where are you?
You too can know true love Dad, where are you?
And you can have the peace I've had Where are you?
I only want to let you know Your heavenly Father loves you so,
So please Dad, let me know, Where are you?
