Jewels
Precious stones take so long coming into being,
Eons and eons of heat and pressure, to make them worth the seeing.
To stop the process before it’s time, will surely mean a flaw,
And make the stone worth much less, and not command the awe;
Of praise and adoration, that a flawless stone will bring,
And never will it rest upon the head of any king.
For time, and heat, and pressure, must be fulfilled you see,
For a gem to reflect, the sun with clarity.
Then the jeweler takes the stone, in skilled hands to prepare,
To chip away the pieces, till it seems in disrepair.
But when the final stroke is made, and he lays his mallet down,
The thing of beauty that is left, is fit for any crown.
So it is with you dear friend, if you want to be,
A jewel that will please the Lord, throughout eternity.
The terrible heat of affliction, and pressure of adversity,
Removes the flaws from your life, and brings forth purity.
Just place your life in the Master’s hands, and be assured to know,
That He’s a master craftsman and, when He strikes that final blow,
When He lays His chisel down and all His work is done,
You’ll be a jewel of brilliance that will reflect His Son.
